••• According to The Hollywood Reporter Derek Connolly (Jurassic World, Jurassic World 2, Kong: Skull Island) is set to write the script for Pacific Rim 2. It’s unclear if Connolly will be rewriting the entire film or just pen a new draft of the script originally written by Zak Penn. Marvel’s Daredevil season one showrunner Steven S DeKnight will make his feature directorial debut behind the camera with the sequel.
••• Supergirl has been dropped by ABC… but picked up by The CW, where it will join all those other DC superhero shows exec produced by Greg Berlanti: The Flash, Arrow and Legends Of Tomorrow. While this sounds like good news, the CW shows all have much lower budgets, and part of the savings on Supergirl will be achieves by movving production from LA to Canada. Will all the cast want to make the move? Will the new budget allow for some of the more highly-paid regulars? There’s much speculation that Calista Flockhart specifically may leave the show or have a reduced role.

Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films have closed a deal to partner with Atari to produce and finance two feature films based on Centipede and Missile Command. Both games were released in 1980 when spaceships were square blocks and hungry insects made right-angle turns. AND THEY WERE GREAT! Not sure there was much actual plot to either of them though… Ah, prefect Hollywood action movie material then (re: Battleship). [via Deadline]
