“As designers of the attraction, one of the things we’re always striving for is authenticity,” says John Murdy, the creative director at Universal Studios Hollywood which will be opening a Walking Dead attraction on 4 July. We sincerely hope he doesn’t mean authenticity too literally. Holiday insurance would be hell to get if tourists suddenly became brain food.
“We’re getting a chance to do animatronic characters that we’ve never done before,” adds The Walking Dead executive producer and FX make-up monstermind Greg Nicotero. “We’re getting a chance to use moulds that were created specifically for the show and translate them into parts of the attraction. It’s one of a kind, state of the art. I can’t wait.”
