Jack is back, and he has a beard. Samurai Jack, the hipster years? Erm, probably not. But 12 years after the original series ended on the Cartoon Network the show is returning to Adult Swim for what creator Genndy Tartakovsky is calling its final run. And there are plenty of changes, other than the beard. But while the new channel means the show can be a little more “adult” that doesn’t mean it’s going to be all blood and gore.
Tartakovsky explains how he’s spent much of the past 12 years trying to finish the series as a film but when he realised that was never going to happen and he decided to make one final TV series, he struck a deal with Adult Swim in superquick time. And with some time to spare between Hotel Transylvania projects (yes, Sony enticed him back for another one despite their differences) the series swung into action. Lucky us!
