While we still wait for confirmation about the exact length of the final two season seasons – seven and eight – of Game Of Thrones, the series’ showrunners have also suggested that we could have to wait a little longer for season seven? Why? Well, like British rail companies, they’re blaming the weather.
According to TV Line, David Benioff and DB Weiss – who also happen to be mixed martial arts fans – were guests on a recent UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) podcast hosted where they suggested that season seven will probably not premiere in late March/April 2017 (in line with all previous seasons) at some later date.
Weiss went on to explain: “We don’t have an air date yet, but next year will probably be a little bit later. We’re starting a little bit later because, you know, the end of the season ‘Winter is here’, and that means sunny weather doesn’t really serve our purposes anymore. So we kind of pushed everything down the line so we can get some grim grey weather, even in the sunnier places we shoot.”
TV Line approached HBO but the network has made no official comment.
