Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan plus three other characters introduced in The Walking Dead season six have been promoted to regular characters in season seven. These four additions bring the main cast to 20 members, the highest in the show’s history.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Payne, Austin Amelio and Xander Berkeley will join Morgan in the main cast lisiting.
New big bad Negan, of course, is already notorious, even though he only appeared in the season six finale, who first appeared in the season six finale. Berkeley plays Gregory, the leader of the Hilltop colony. Payne plays Paul Rovia, aka Jesus, who was massively underused in season six after a brilliant introduction. And Amelio is Dwight, a member of Negan’s group – the Saviours – who has had repeated run-ins with Daryl (Norman Reedus).
The full main cast list season seven will thus be: Andrew Lincoln (Rick), Norman Reedus (Daryl), Steven Yeun (Glenn), Cohan, Chandler Riggs (Carl), Danai Gurira (Michonne), Melissa McBride (Carol), Michael Cudlitz (Abraham), Lennie James (Morgan), Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha), Alanna Masterson (Tara), Christian Serratos (Rosita), Josh McDermitt (Eugene), Seth Gilliam (Father Gabriel), Ross Marquand (Aaron), Austin Nichols (Spencer), Morgan, Payne, Amelio and Berkeley.
