Another ancient supporting character from the DC Comics universe is set the transfer to live action when Lucas “Snapper” Carr debuts in episode two of Supergirl’s second season later this year.
Despite his name “Snapper” Carr was never a photographer in the comics so don’t expect him to be Jimmy’s new rival on the show. He was introduced in Brave And The Bold #28 (1960) as a non-super-powered teenage sidekick to the Justice League of America, earning his nickname because of a habit of clicking his fingers. He has since hung around the fringes of the DC-verse, usually not superpowered though he did develop the ability to teleport for a while.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Supergirl’s take on Snapper Carr is described as a “…headstrong, sharp-witted newsman, hired by Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) to be the editor-in-chief of CatCo Magazine. Snapper’s commitment to hard-hitting journalism pushes CatCo reporters to dig deeper in the pursuit of excellence. He’s a man who tells people what he thinks of them, and his no-holds barred approach pushes Kara (Melissa Benoist) in unexpected ways.”
He will be played by Ian Gomez (Cougar Town, Felicity, My Big Fat Greek Wedding).
