Starz has released a new poster for its upcoming adaptation for Neil Gaiman’s modern fantasy American Gods which informs us that we are what we worship. Which sounds very deep but is actually utter philosophical bobbins. We’ve met many sun worshippers over the past few days and they’re not the sun. They’re more like crispy fried chicken.

American Gods is kind of supernatural road movie across America where the old traditional gods imported by a melting pop of immigrants are being replaced by new gods reflecting the modern world: money, technology, media, celebrity, drugs. Protagonist Shadow Moon is an ex-con who becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to Mr Wednesday, a conman who’s also one of the older gods, on a cross-country mission to gather his forces in preparation to battle the new deities.
The cast also includes Gillian Anderson as Media, Emily Browning (Sucker Punch) as Laura Moon, Yetide Badaki (Aquarius) as Bilquis, Bruce Langley (Deadly Waters) as Technical Boy, Crispin Glover (Back To The Future) as Mr World and Jonathan Tucker (Kingdom) as Low Key Lyesmith. Also appearing are Cloris Leachman (Malcolm In The Middle, Raising Hope), Peter Stormare (Fargo, Prison Break), Chris Obi (Snow White And The Huntsman), Mousa Kraish (Superbad, Fast & Furious).
Currently no UK broadcaster has been announced.
