The Marvel/Netflix panel at San Diego Comic Con revealed a whole bunch of new teaser trailers for Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders and Daredevil season three (which was confirmed at the event though with no official premiere date as yet). So let’s start ploughing on through…
After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city, forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.
Mike Colter leads a cast that also includes Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe, Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth, Theo Rossi as Shades, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and the return of Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple. Cheo Hodari Coker (Notorious, NCIS: Los Angeles) is executive producer and showrunner of the series which will be streaming on Netflix worldwide from September 30.
Marvel’s Iron Fist is now confirmed to debut in 2017. Danny Rand (Finn Jones) returns to New York City after being missing for years. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist. The cast also includes Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, David Wenham as Harold Meachum, Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum, and Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum.
“Iron Fist is filming now,” Marvel’s Head of TV said to ComicBook.com, “and it’s going spectacularly. It’s a very different story from this kind of story. Danny Rand lives in a different world than Luke Cage lives in.”
Marvel also revealed this key art for the series.
Next up, the panel debuted a very, very early teaser trailer for The Defenders, the crossover series that will bring all of the Marvel/Netflix characters together into one show and one superteam – a kind of Misfits Avengers. “Am I looking forward to the day when they all get together?” says Loeb. “Yes! But the part that’s exciting to me isn’t that they may be able to be fighting some great big bad, it’s that we’ve been able to take the time so that you can get to know Matt Murdock, get to know Jessica Jones, get to know Luke Cage, get to know Danny Rand, and each of them have their own 13 hour story, in some cases more than that, and really get invested in who those heroes are.”
There was even a teaser for Daredevil season three, with the emphasis very much in “tease”.
