Sure it still looks like Inception meets Harry Potter And The Mid-Lide Crisis, but the new trailer for Marvel’s Doctor Strange – unveiled at a panel for the film at San Diego Comic-Con – looks utterly awesome nonetheless. And it’s not just the FX – the cast looks brilliant too. Benedict Cumberbatch and Chiwetel Ejiofor look like they make a great double while Mads Mikkelsen has never looked scarier (which is saying something).
Director Scott Derrickson and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor (Baron Karl Mordo) Mads Mikkelsen (Kaecilius), Rachel McAdams (Christine Palmer) and Benedict Wong (Wong) were there for the panel in Hall H, which also included new footage of a lengthy scene in which Strange meets The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) for the first time.
Swinton addressed concerns about the white washing of her character (who is portrayed as Asian in the comics): “The truth is, anyone of us could be the Ancient One… The Ancient One is a title.”
Ejiofor’s character, who is a villain in the comics, has a more complicated relationship with Strange in the movie, with Mordo serving as a mentor. “They go on this very complex journey,” said Ejiofor.
