This announcement got a bit buried within all the other SDCC coverage but the new CBS Star Trek show, set to premiere next year, now has an official name – Star Trek Discovery – and a new teaser trailer, which we present here for your delight and delectation.

The show will follow the voyages of the USS Discovery, NCC-1031. The new series will not be episodic like previous Star Trek series, but would be “telling stories like a novel” said showrunner Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Pushing Daisies, American Gods).
Star Trek Discovery will debut on CBS in 2017 before moving online to tempt US citizens to sign up for CBS All Access. The rest of world will be able to watch it on Netflix (well, the bits of the rest of the world that get Netflix, anyway).
