Suicide Squad managed to cling onto its number one spot at both the global box office and the North American box office, despite a drastic fall in ticket sales that was nearly, but not quite, as bad the decline Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice experience in its second weekend.
In the worldwide box office Suicide Squad took $58.7 million in 62 total markets to bring its total outside of North America to $242.5 million. That’s a 56% drop from the opening weekend which compares well to Batman V Superman’s 66% drop in its second weekend worldwide
In North America Suicide Squad took $43.8 million, a 67.3% drop from its first weekend, compared to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which dropped 69% its second weekend. This takes the film’s North American total to $222.9 million.
This brings the global combined total to $465.4 million so far.
In second place worldwide was The Secret Life Of Pets, which gained another $40 million to take its global tally so far to $592.6 million.
In North America, Sausage Party took second place with $33.6 million in its opening weekend.
