After the tease last week we now get the full trailer for the Amy Adams-starring first contact movie, Arrival, not to be confused (and probably not likely to be confused) with the wonderfully schlocky 1996 alien invasion flick The Arrival starring Charlie Sheen. This one’s more like Independence Day meets Contact. And if you’ve ever read the excellent The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell (which is all about a linguist making first contact but in that case after a voyage to an alien planet) there seem to be elements of that book as well.
Arrival is directed by Denis Villeneuve (Sicario), who’s currently working on the Blade Runner sequel. As well as Adams, it stars Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker.
