You’ve gotta love Zachary Levi. His charismatic performance as the eponymous übergeek and reluctant spy in Chuck was a major part of the show’s success and he’s always been great fun in interviews. He also looked like he was living out a childhood fantasy as Fandral in Thor: The Dark World.
Sadly, his biggest new TV gig since Chuck – as one of the new stars of Heroes Reborn – all went hideously wrong when the reboot turned out to be as thrilling as being slowly digested by a Sarlacc over a thousand years (Chuck woulda loved that reference – he once went to a fancy dress party as a sandworm.)
But it seems one good thing did come out of his Heroes experience. Apparently, following his casting in that show – and before it bombed – he signed a first-look deal for his production company, Middle Man, with Universal TV, which produced Reborn.
Now, NBC, owned by Universal, has put into development Unidentified, a sci-fi drama from Levi’s Middle Man Productions.
Written by Sean Finegan, Unidentified is described as a high-octane thriller with sci-fi elements, about a CIA operative trying to protect his family from an unimaginable secret (the shame of appearing in Heroes Reborn, maybe?).
Levi will executive produce Unidentified with Turi Meyer & Al Septein (Smallville, Salem) who will serve as showrunners.
