Syfy is moving into American Horror Story territory with new horror anthology series Channel Zero. BUZZ remembers when “anthology series” meant a different story every week (like The Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits) but the term has rapidly evolved into recent years to mean a different story every season, and that’s what we get here. The first six episodes of Channel Zero are inspired by a creepypasta story, “Candle Cove”, about a children’s TV show that appears to brainwash its viewers (hang on… are they sure this isn’t actually based on the Angel episode “Smile Time”?)
Here’s the official synopsis: “A child psychologist, Mike Painter (Paul Schneider) was a child himself when he witnessed the mysterious disappearance of his twin brother, Eddie, and four other children from their small town, Iron Hill, in 1988. Decades later, he is compelled to return to his hometown to investigate what really happened all those years ago, only to find that it – whatever it was – may be happening all over again.” (Actually, forget Angel, that’s It.)
Channel Zero: Candle Cove premieres in the States on 11 October on Syfy. No UK broadcaster announced yet.
