A controversy that has blown up surrounding the filming of Transformers: The Last Knight may have revealed the role being played by Sir Anthony Hopkins: could he be Winston Churchill? (And is he is, does that mean there’s time travel in the film, or will he just be appearing in flashback?)
The controversy centres on the production filming as Churchill’s ancestral home of Blenheim Palace (he was born there – legend has it in a lady’s cloakroom during a ball, but this seems to be an urban myth). It appears the Palace may be standing in for Nazi HQ as well in the film. The crew was seen placing Swastika’s around the place, which sent The Sun into a state of High Dudgeon.

Calm down, calm down, countered director Michael Bay, speaking to BBC News. “There’s a thing I saw in the paper about Blenheim and I just want to say that people were not fortunate enough to read the script. They don’t know that Churchill, in this movie, is a big hero and Churchill would be smiling about last night.”
The thing is, if Hopkins is playing Churchill that makes the idea of him having a Staffordshire Bull Terrier (as seen here) even more incongruous.
