BBC One has revealed the titles of the first two episodes of Sherlock series four in a tweet. They will be “The Six Thatchers” and “The Lying Detective”.

The first title could be a play on the original Sherlock Holmes tale, “The Six Napoleons” (1904) if you think that Napoleon could be swapped for Margaret Thatcher in a modern-day retelling (ahem…!). The original story concerns vandalism taken on busts of Napoleon. The other title appears to be a play on “The Dying Detective” (1913) in which Watson finds Sherlock dying of a strange disease. Not that either episode will necessarily bear much resemblance to the originals, even if we have pinpointed the correct ones!
