FX’s cult animated hit Archer – the parody spy series that became a parody drug-runner series that became a parody private detective series – is to go all Game Of Thrones. Nope creator Adam Reed isn’t planning to turn it into an epic fantasy parody, he’s planning to end the series with season 10, with the final three seasons all with shorter episode runs.
“The plan is to end Archer after season 10,” Reed tells Modern Film School’s Murmur podcast [via Deadline]. I don’t know that anybody has talked about that, but that is definitely my plan – to do eight, nine and 10 and they’re gonna be each shorter seasons of just eight episodes, and then wind it up.…
“I was gonna end it after eight, but then I had sort of a brain explosion of a way that I could do three more seasons and really keep my interest up. So the three seasons that are coming up are gonna be pretty different from what has come before, and they’re gonna be different from each other.”
Hang on… brain explosion? Maybe he is going to turn it into a Game Of Thrones parody and finish it off with a massive blood bath.
Archer recently won an Emmy for the episode “The Figgis Agency”.
