Syfy has found its lead for Superman prequel series Kryton – Cameron Cuffe will play Kal-El’s granddad Seg-El, but as the show is set two generations before Superman’s home planet exploded, we’ll be seeing the guy back in his youthful, rebellious days.
The show – which for the moment is only a pilot order – follows Superman’s grandfather Seg-El (Cuffe) through a rough time for the House of El, as he fights to redeem his family’s honour and save his beloved world from chaos. Seg-El has an intuitive brilliance for all things technical but as he show begins he now is living in Krypton’s lowest caste after his family was stripped of its rank.
The London-born Cuffe has so far worked mainly on stage though he did have a role in the Stephen Frears-directed film Florence Foster Jenkins.
The Krypton pilot is being developed by David S Goyer (the Dark Knight trilogy, Man Of Steel, Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, Da Vinci’s Demons) and Damian Kindler (Stargate SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis) for Syfy.
