Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi (currently riding high on a massive wave of critical plaudits for Hunt For The Wilderpeople) has shared an image on Instagram can that can only be considered a tease for the plot of the Marvel movie… unless, of course, he simply has a secret keyboard fetish.
Korg, as well as being the brand name of a well-known range of synthesisers, is also a character the “Planet Hulk” comic book storyline (the one where Hulk was taken to an alien planet where he became a space gladiator who eventually took over the alien Empire).
Korg, who looks a little like the Thing’s less good-looking brother, was first introduced in a Thor story way back in Journey Into Mystery #83 (1962) but secured his place in Marvel history when he and his bro, Magnus, were enslaved by the Sakaar Empire and forced to take part in their gladiatorial games. Korg originally battles Hulk in the arena before becoming one of his allies when Hulk overthrew the empire.
Many Marvel fans assume that Korg had already appeared in the MCU – the guy below in Thor: The Dark World has more than a passing resemblance, but things didn’t end well for him.
Waititi has previously revealed that elements from “Planet Hulk” will be used in Thor: Ragnarok – it looks like the film and the comic book may share more similarities than we’d originally assumed.
