The acting legend that is Forest Whitaker (we’re not going to list his biggest films in brackets after his name because that would be an insult to his LEGEND!) has been cast in the Marvel movie Black Panther, Marvel Studios has confirmed alongside the announcement of two other actors for the film.
Whitaker will play Zuri, a Wakandan elder statesman. Whitaker worked with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler before when he was one of the producers on Coogler’s debut movie, Fruitvale Station (2014).
Meanwhile Daniel Kaluuya (Skins, Sicario, Kick-Ass 2, Johnny English Reborn – left) will play W’Kabi, T’Challa’s confidant, while Florence Kasumba is reprising her Captain America: Civil War role as Ayo, a member of the Dora Milaje. (Kasumba actually had only one line in Civil War – “Move. Or you will be moved” – but she was totally badass, she totally managed to steal the scene off of Scarlett Johansson and she even created her own mini-fanbase on the net! They don’t just want to see her Black Panther; they want an entire spin-off film franchise.)
They join a cast which includes Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther, Michael B Jordan (Creed, Fruitvale Station) as Erik Killmonger, Winston Duke as M’Baku/Man-Ape, Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years A Slave, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) as Nakia and Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead) as Okoye.
Black Panther is set for a UK release on 9 February 2018.
