FX has released two new trailers for X-Men spin-off series Legion, though to be fair one is more of a tease than a proper trailer. That doesn’t matter because the proper trailer is so darned good it makes up for any shortfall and then some. With showrunner Noah Hawley (Fargo) at pains to emphasise we shouldn’t expect a weekly X-Men movie (or, indeed a show that bore much resemblance to the X-Men) we were preparing ourselves for something austere and talky and worthy. But from the looks of this promo Legion could be all kinds of bizarro wonderful. Colour us very intrigued.
Dan Stevens (The Guest), Rachel Keller (Fargo), Aubrey Plaza (Parks And Recreation) and Jean Smart (Fargo) star in the series. Jemaine Clement (Flight Of The Conchords) will appear in a multi-episode arc.
In case you didn’t know, Legion is based on the comic book character David Haller who’s the illegitimate son of Professor X. He has multiple personality disorders and each of those personalities has a different mutant power. Quite how much of that will translate into the show is unclear, but it seems like Hawley is giving the character a unique spin.
In the UK the show will air on FOX, debuting in February 2017.
