It’s official: the Pacific Rim sequel will be called Pacific Rim: Maelstrom, and we have that from the star of the film’s mouth. Well, not his mouth, exactly… his Instagram account, but that’s good enough for us.
John Boyega (Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens) posted the pic below, a copy of his script for the film (it has his initials on it) showing the new title on the front. Boyega is set to play the son of Stacker Pentecost (the Idris Elba role in the original film) and he’s joined by Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny, Jing Tian and Levi Meaden.
Meanwhile, the film’s director, Steven S DeKnight (Spartacus Blood And Sand, Marvel’s Daredevil) has officially confirmed that Pacific Rim: Maelstrom started filming with a photo tease posted to his personal Twitter account (see below).
