This new featurette for the Assassin’s Creed movie explores the “science” behind the film’s genetic time travel machine, the animus; “science” in inverted commas because, of course, it’s not really science. It’s only just about pseudo-science; sheer fantasy might be a more accurate description. But who cares? We’ll believe any old bobbins that comes out of Michael Fassbender’s mouth he’s such a good actor, and with the animus we wouldn’t have much of a film… just some guy doing extreme pilates.
Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organisation in the present day.
Assassin’s Creed is released in the UK on 1 January 2017.
