••• Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 director James Gunn has posted a new pic of one of the new alien characters in the film to his Facebook page. “Happy Birthday to my very best pal in all the land and my only friend who knows both the historical ins-and-outs of the Third Punic War and how an air-conditioner works, Stephen Blackehart. Here he is as Brahl in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. #GotGVol2. Photo by Steve Agee,” wrote Gunn wrote on the photo, which he initially posted to Facebook. Brahl is actually a character from the Marvel Comics universe. From the planet Achernon, Brahl he made his comic book debut in Thor Annual #6 (1977) as a member of the Minions of Menace who fought the Guardians. ••• In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Heroes star Masi Oka has revealed that he’s played a part in Netflix’s Death Note adaptation. “I recently finished producing Death Note for Netflix, which I have a part in as well,” he says, without giving details of the character. The cast currently includes Nat Wolff as Light, Kieth Stanfield as L and Willem Defoe as the voice of Ryuk.

••• Sigourney Weaver has been sharing a few titbits about the Avatar sequels and Netflix’s The Defenders with Variety. “In my opinion, the three scripts I’ve read so far are many times more amazing than the first one in terms of their scope,” she says of the Avatar sequels. “(James Cameron) did a lot of the heavy lifting in the first movie, establishing the family and the relationships and the world, and now he really gets to play.” As for her role as the Big Bad in The Defenders, she says, “I can’t say much, because they might kill me. I think everyone I work for might kill me if I tell you anything. But I have the most delicious character. She’s really smart, and she’s very in charge.”
