According to Variety, Emmy-nominated actor Walton Goggins (Justified, The Hateful Eight, Django Unchained) is set to sign on to play the main villain in the new Tomb Raider reboot movie. There’s no confirmation yet about who he’ll be playingm but we bet he won’t be a nice man.
Goggins joins Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Danish Girl), who will play the new Lara Croft (great casting! Then again we’d say great casting if Vikander were cast as a fridge). The film is being directed by Norwegian filmmaker Roar Uthaug (The Wave) from a script by Transformers: The Last Knight scribe Geneva Robertson-Dworet. The new Tomb Raider currently has a US release date of 16 March 2018,
The original Tomb Raider video game was released in 1996 since when the games have sold over 35 million units worldwide. Square Enix released a critically acclaimed reboot of the games in 2013 with a younger Croft being sent off on her first big adventure.
