JJ Abrams is clearly in HBO’s good books at the moment having just overseen season one of Westworld for them, which seems to have been a bit of a hit. Now comes the news – via The Hollywood Reporter – that he’s developing, through his Bad Robot production company, another ambitious sci-fi show for them.
Called Glare, it will be about the colonisation of another planet. Little else about the plot is known at the moment, but maybe there’s a clue in the name? A desert planet maybe? Or one with a sun that has unusual properties?
Spanish screenwriter Javier Gullón (Enemy) will pen the script for the pilot episode and executive produce the series. Ben Stephenson, former BBC head of drama-turned-Bad Robot head of development, will exec produce alongside Abrams and Gullón.
