Prolific actor Patrick Wilson (Fargo, The Conjuring, Insidious, Nite Owl in Watchmen) has already made a brief “appearance” in the DC shared cinematic universe, having played the voice of the president of the United States in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. It’s now been confirmed that the actor will be returning for another DCU film, Aquaman, but it will be in a very different role.
It has long been rumoured that Wilson would be in Aquaman, because Aquaman is being directed by James Wan, and Wilson has been cast by Wan in a number of his previous films. But nobody suspected he’d land the plumb role of bad guy, and Aquaman’s half-brother (a fishy Loki, then) Orm, aka Ocean Master (in the comics, anyway – we bet that name is mysteriously absent from the film, unless there’s an “I am the Master of the Oceans!”-style Easter egg).
Wilson joins an ensemble that includes Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Amber Heard as Mera. The actor Tweeted his delight at being in the movie (@creepypuppet is James Wan’s Twitter nom de plume).
