Entertainment Weekly has a released a new image from Alien: Covenant showing Daniels (actress Katherine Waterson) in what can only be called Ripley mode. But that’s what you want from an Alien film; a woman with a gun in a vest. It makes it feel like everything’s right with the world.
Waterston tells Entertainment Weekly how impressed she was with director Ridley Scott. “He’s a master! He’s got the energy of ten 25-year-olds,” she says. Plus, “he’s sadistic. He loves the thought of making people scream in a cinema.”
Scott himself chimes in, “It’s hard to scare people. It’s a lot easier to make people laugh. But to really scare the sh** out of somebody? That’s difficult.”
Let’s hope he succeeds with Alien: Covenant because, let’s face it – what everybody really wants is a scene with the visceral impact of the chestburster scene from the original 1979 Alien. But is that even possible?
