Carrie Fisher, Princess Leia in the Star Wars films, is in an intensive care unit after suffering a a life-threatening medical condition during a flight on Friday to California.
The site TMZ, which first reported the incident, claims witnesses say Fisher had a heart attack and received CPR on the plane though an official statement from her brother, Todd Fisher, did not classify the condition. He told the press on Friday night that his sister is receiving excellent care, that she had been stabilised and was out of the emergency room.
Fisher was treated by paramedics immediately after the plane landed in Los Angeles and taken to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles hospital.
Todd Fisher said much of what had been reported about the incident was speculation.
“We have to wait and be patient,” he said. “We have so little information ourselves.”
We send our best wishes and hopes for a speedy and full recovery.
