Entertainment Weekly has gone Defenders crazy revealing a cover and a behind-the-scenes video celebrating the forthcoming superteam series that crosses over all the Marvel/Netflix series so far: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. The video doesn’t reveal an awful lot about the plot but Finn Jones, who plays Danny Rand/Iron Fist, does hint that he’s the one who has draw the team together as he’s the one that knows the main threat best.
Marvel’s Daredevil showrunners Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie serve as showrunners and executive producers along with Drew Goddard, Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory. Director SJ Clarkson (Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Dexter) will direct the first two episodes of the culminating mini-series event. The eight-episode series will premiere in 2017 following Marvel’s Iron Fist (which premieres on 17 March) and Marvel’s The Punisher (tbc).
And here’s some gubbins from the issue itself: “Each Defender has arrived separately at the offices of Midland Circle (a name that should sound familiar to Daredevil fans as the shady operation behind a giant, literal plot hole in season two), and none of them expected to cross paths. But before they can properly meet and greet, the four have wound up trapped in the middle of a corridor and must brawl their way past a group of enemies. (Hey, Marvel loves hallway fight scenes ever since Daredevil pulled one off.) “Every one of them is following their own trail of bread crumbs, trying to unpack a mystery in New York,” explains showrunner Marco Ramirez, who produced Daredevil’s first season before co-showrunning the second. “We wanted them all caught off guard. Once they’re in that room together, it’s kind of like, ‘Oh, s—, who are you?’”
