According to Variety, Game Of Thrones star Peter Dinklage is in early talks for a key role in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel, whatever that ends up being called. Both movies are being filmed back to back.
The character he may be playing has not been revealed, though we do love ComicBook.com’s suggestion that he should play The Watcher, an enigmatic giant bald alien with mysterious powers, who rarely intervenes in cosmic events, but has been known to when asked nicely. Usually by Reed Richards (who for contactual reasons won’t be in the movie).
This isn’t Dinklage’s first comic book movie role; he played the Sentinel’s creator Bolivar Trask in X-Men: Days Of Future Past (2014). And if you want to add in superhero movies in general (including those not based on comic books) he was also the villain Dr Simon Barsinister in Underdog (2007) – about a superpowered pooch – but he’d probably not want us to mention that, because it was terrible.
Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, is set for release in the UK on 27 April 2018, with the fourth Avengers film due on 26 April 2019.
