According to Attack On Titan manga publisher Kodansha a report on Deadline last week that Warner Bros was poised to make a US live-action version of the property with David Heyman (the Harry Potter series) producing is, “incorrect”.
According to cinematoday.jp and Yahoo Japan, a Kodansha PR spokesman responded to the inquiries by saying that “There are various works progressing negotiations… I can’t comment on things under contract negotiation,” but “Deadline’s report is incorrect.”
It’s a shame they couldn’t comment further as a vague statement like that only leads to more speculation; is the Deadline article only partly incorrect or completely wrong? To be fair, the Deadline article only says that Warners is in negotiations (as we stated in our report) so is Kodansha saying that even that isn’t true and Warners isn’t even in the frame?
It’ll all come clear soon, no doubt.
