Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo, musical episodes aren’t really new,
But now The Flash is doing one, Once Upon A Time is planning one too.
But will either leave us reeling, like “Once More With Feeling?”
Or will they be cringey, like that one on Fringe we
Had almost forgotten, which wasn’t quite as rotten
As House’s attempt, which was met with contempt.
Yes according to TVLine (which points out that network ABC has so far made no comment) the producers of Once Upon a Time are planning a musical episode for some time in the second half of season six.
The Flash and Supergirl will also be producing a musical crossover this spring called “Duet” but it’s somewhat surprising that Once Upon A Time hasn’t done one already, considering about 95% of its characters are based on Disney characters who did sing in their original movies. Perhaps the reason for that lies in a quote by series co-creator Eddy Kitsis at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con: “It would be great to do a musical episode, but I don’t know even know where to begin.” Looks like he may have finally found his starting point.
The TV Line article is light on details, but you have to speculate on whether a Once Upon A Time musical episode would rely on new songs or simply use the songs from the Disney films? It would be amusing to have the dwarves singing, “Whistle While You Work” or Archie singing, “Give A Little Whistle”.
