Dominic West (The Wire, Chicago, The 300) has been cast as Lara Croft’s dad in the new Tomb Raider movie that has just entered production, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film will involve Lara’s attempts to finish her father’s research and uncover ancient secrets in order to clear his disgraced name. Croft’s father, Lord Richard Croft, is a key figure in the Raider mythos and is an aristocrat and archeologist. Jon Voight played him in the Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider movies.
This time Lara is being played by Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina) and interestingly this is the second time West has played the father of character she’s playing, the first time being in Testament Of Youth (2014).
The new Tomb Raider is being directed by Norwegian Roar Uthaug (The Wave, Escape) for a March 2018 release.
