This new clip from Kong: Skull Island may not be action-packed but it is exciting in another way. No, not just because it features two acting giants in a scene together (Samuel L Jackson and John Goodman) but because it begins to show the ways in which Kong: Skull Island links to Godzilla. The two Legendary monsters will, of course, be coming together for a major movie slapdown in Godzilla Vs Kong in 2020.
In the clip, Bill Randa (Goodman) reveals to Lieutenant Colonel Packard (Jackson) that he’s a member of the Monarch group, “specialises in the hunt for massive unidentified terrestrial organisms.” Monarch also featured in Gareth Edward’s Godzilla (2014) when it discovered a massive, hatched subterranean spore that grew into a giant winged monster. That creature was labelled a “MUTO” (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism) a phrase which Randa also uses in this clip.
Kong: Skull Island is released in the UK on 10 March.
