Jamie Chung, who already has considerable telefantasy form as Mulan in Once Upon A Time and Valerie Vale in Gotham, has now been cast in Fox’s as-yet-untitled new X-Men series (the one in which X-Men movies director Bryan Singer is heavily involved).
She is set to play the mutant Blink in the show which will kick off with two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.
Blink, a mutant teleporter, has the real name Clarice Ferguson in the comics, but this appears to have been changed to Clarice Fong (presumably that’s the surname of the family at the heart of the show). She’s still a teleporter in the series, and described as, “sarcastic, lively and a bit of a tomboy. Her naturally strong exuberance has taken a hit after a sudden and traumatic upheaval of her life. As she adjusts to the new people and places that are suddenly ‘home’, Clarice is slowly becoming herself again.”
Another version of Blink appeared on screen in X-Men: Days Of Future Past (2014) played by Fan Bingbing.
The show, which is being developed by Burn Notice showrunner Matt Nix, is currently only at a pilot stage.
