Marvel’s ambitious new series for the US ABC network, Marvel’s Inhumans, has found its silent star – Anson Mount of Hell On Wheels will play Black Bolt, the King Of The Inhumans, who won’t have any dialogue because his superpower is a voice that can cause massive destruction with even the merest whisper… so he tends to keep his trap shut.
“Anson loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently,” says Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb. “His enthusiasm mixed with his imposing almost regal persona made it easy to see why he is our Black Bolt.”
Showrunner Scott Buck adds, “Black Bolt is a character whose deep complexity must be conveyed without uttering a single word, and I’m very excited to have Anson on board to bring him to life.”
Mount heads up a cast that also includes Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones, Misfits) as his shady brother Maximus, a clever and charming Inhuman who’s fiercely devoted to the people of Attilan –the home of the Inhumans – especially his brother, Black Bolt, though he harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself.
The series will premiere with a pilot screened in IMAX cinemas worldwide before continuing as an eight-part series on TV.
