It’s not exactly the MCU, but Marvel’s recent Iron Man replacement in the comics, Ironheart, aka Riri Williams, has made a pretty prestigious live-action debut. The famous US tech-university MIT has an annual tradition called Pi Day, the day on which news students learn that they’ve won a place at the respected institution, with the acceptance letters arrived in a tube. And in recent years MIT has been marking the occasion with ever more elaborate videos; last year’s featured Star Wars droid BB-8.
Riri Williams is a perfect choice of subject matter, though, because in the comics she designed and built her armour at MIT. “Marvel uses MIT in their comic, so we figured, given we are MIT, it would be okay,” MIT Dean of Admissions Stu Schmill tells The Boston Globe. “We like to have fun, do things in a creative way, and that’s really — it captures the spirit of this place and what students love to do.”
