Starz has released an extensive new trailer for it’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s dark fantasy American Gods, and it’s awash with blood. The series, which see the old Gods in America (the ones imported by imigrants) in a war with the new Gods (of modern-day concepts like the media, fame, technology and fake news*), looks a lot gorier than we were expecting – though it’s the kind of over-the-top, designer gore that Preacher favoured – not so much horror as ghoulish spectacle. It’s all looking very stylish, though, isn’t it?
(* That’s fake news, it isn’t true – but we would love it to be if there’s a season two.)
American Gods, which has been overseen by by Hannibal showrunner Bryan Fuller, stars Ricky Whittle (The 100) as Shadow Moon, a recently released convict who becomes reluctantly involved in this war of the gods; Ian McShane (Deadwood, Lovejoy) as Mr. Wednesday, his new employer; Emily Browning (Sucker Punch, Legend) as Laura Moon; Pablo Schreiber (Orange is the New Black) as Mad Sweene; Yetide Badaki (Masters of Sex) as Bilquis; Bruce Langley (Deadly Waters) as Technical Boy; Crispin Glover (Back To The Future) as Mr World; Orlando Jones (Sleepy Hollow) as Mr. Nancy; Gillian Anderson (The X-Files) as Media; Kristin Chenoweth (Pushing Daisies) as Easter; Jonathan Tucker (Kingdom) as Low Key Lyesmith; Cloris Leachman (Malcom in The Middle) as Zorya Vechernyaya; Peter Stormare (Fargo, Prison Break) as Czernobog; Chris Obi (Snow White And The Huntsman) as Anubis; Demore Barnes (12 Monkeys) as Mr Ibis; Corbin Bernsen (LA Law) as Vulcan; and Mousa Kraish (Fast & Furious) as The Jinn.
That’s what we call a cast list!
