Not a lot has been revealed so far about Channel 4’s new 10-part anthology series Electric Dreams other than it’s an anthology series based on the work of Philip K Dick, featuring Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston as Dick and produced by the actor’s production company. We’ve had a list of scriptwriters (which includes Battlestar Galactica’s Ronald D Moore and The Night Manager’s David Farr) but now Channel 4 has released some information about the first episode, “The Commuter”.
It will star Timothy Spall (Mr Turner, Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, Wormtail in Harry Potter), and is being directed by Tom Harper (Peaky Blinders) and written by Jack Thorne (The Fades, This Is England, Harry Potter And The Cursed Child). There’s another Potter connection, in that the episode will co-star Anthony Boyle who plays Scorpius Malfoy in The Cursed Child. Other guest stars include The Moorside’s Rebecca Manley and Sense8’s Tuppence Middleton.
“The Commuter” is about a guy who works at a train station who discovers that a number of commuters are taking the train to a town that shouldn’t exist. The discovery leads him to an alternate reality that forces him to confront his own family struggles.
