With hours to spare before registrations goes live for the UK World Cosplay Summit Qualifier and Cosplay Masquerades that are being held at MCM London Comic Con this May, it has been confirmed that MCM London Comic Con will be the UK qualifier for a brand new international cosplay competition!
The International Cosplay League is running for the first time in 2017, and offers cosplayers the chance to jet off to sunny Spain to compete against cosplayers from all around the world. Pairs can enter with a performance on the Saturday of MCM London Comic Con; whereas the solo craftsmanship only contest is to be held on the Sunday. That means that by the end of the London weekend, three cosplayers will have been chosen to travel to Madrid for the ICL Final being held on the 30 of September & 1 October in addition to two cosplayers flying to Nagoya in Japan for the World Cosplay Summit Final.
MCM Cosplay Masquerade host Granny Gertrude is pleased by this new development in the international cosplay scene: “Any opportunity to reward cosplayers for the hard work that goes into their costumes and performances is brilliant, and the format of the International Cosplay League should appeal to a wide range of cosplayers. It fits with our changing philosophy with our Cosplay Masquerades too, as for 2017 we are shifting to award a greater number of prizes and trophies to cosplayers. We’re glad to have been invited to participate, and I am really looking forward to seeing what the UK cosplay community brings to bear for this contest.”
The International Cosplay League Final will be held in Madrid, Spain at Japan Weekend Madrid on the 30 September & 1 October. For more information see: https://www.facebook.com/internationalcosplayleague/
