Almost exactly a year ago we reported that Robert Jordan’s widow Harriet McDougal had announced that a TV series based on her husband’s most famous work, the Wheel Of Time epic fantasy series, was in development, but she was a bit low on actual details. 12 months later and some of those details can be filled in.
According to Variety, Sony is the company developing the series, which began with The Eye Of The World in 1990 and ended with A Memory of Light (completed posthumously with the help of Brandon Sanderson) in 2013. The eighth through 14th books in the series each reached number one on the New York Times Best Seller list. The story follows a group of characters lead by Rand al’Thor on the search for the Dragon Reborn.
Rafe Judkins who has worked on Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, Hemlock Grove and Chuck is on board to write and executive produce. Red Eagle’s Rick Selvage and Larry Mondragon and Radar’s Ted Field and Mike Weber will executive produce with Darren Lemke. Jordan’s widow Harriet McDougal will be a consulting producer.
