When the track listing was released for the Awesome Mixtape #2 for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2, there was one song on there that had fans scratching their heads: “Guardians Inferno” by The Sneepers featuring David Hasselhoff.
The Sneepers are an obscure race of green aliens from the Marvel Comics universe, while David Hasselhoff is the one-time star of Baywatch and Knight Rider whose singing career was inexplicably popular in Germany. So what was this mysterious collaboration between them?
Now we know – it’s an ’80s theme tune in search of a TV show, with a bizarre spoken “rap” from Hasselhoff about the morality of taking a baby tree into combat. You can now listen to it, and if you want to sing along, James Gunn has Tweeted the lyrics (which he wrote himself; the music is by the film’s composer, Tyler Bates).
Here are the lyrics to Guardians Inferno I wrote on Notes in the back of a car on my ride home. pic.twitter.com/CHhnKglD9S
