We’re about to learn a whole lot more about video game sequel Destiny 2, when the official ‘Gameplay Premiere’ global livestream event takes place later today. “Welcome to a world without light,” the all-too-brief video trailer for the event promises.
The biggest reveal will feature a new threat to humanity, and Bungie and Activision haven’t shared much about them ahead of this broadcast.
All we know so far is that this Cabal force, known as the Red Legion, is a new deadly enemy comprised of a variety of combatants – from massive soldiers to rabid dog like creatures.
The broadcast, which will be coming live from an aeroplane hangar in Hawthorne, California, where game developer Bungie will be joined by special guests, will debut gameplay of the blockbuster sequel. It takes place from 6pm BST and the video feed can be watched live at Destinythegame.com or via Bungie’s Twitch channel.
Naturally, the Guardians facing off against the new threat posed by the Cabal’s Red Legion will also be wielding new powers…
The Vanguard consists of three high-ranking Guardians: Zavalla, Ikora Rey, and Cayde-6. They represent each of the Guardian classes: Titan, Warlock and Hunter and act as leaders of the Guardians – directing the action and setting mission objectives. How will they respond to the new danger facing humanity?
Warlock – Ikora Rey
Ikora’s role in the Vanguard is to study enemy threats, particularly any unconventional threats posed by the forces of darkness, and is typically the first to react to them. In Destiny 2 her leadership will be needed more than ever in humanity’s fight against Lord Ghaul and his Red Legion.
Titan – Commander Zavala
Commander Zavalla is a veteran Titan who coordinates the defence of the City. In Destiny 2 we will see how he responds, now that humanity’s last safe city has fallen to Lord Ghaul.
Hunter – Cayde-6
Arguably the fan favourite, Cayde-6 proved popular in both the teaser and reveal trailer. The Ghost once remarked “Cayde is a cunning hunter, with years of experience in staying alive in the wilds. But, um, fighting a war isn’t his strong suit. I’m not sure the ‘shoot them all to death’ strategy is going to be enough.”
