Flaming Fowl Studios and Mediatonic have announced that Fable Fortune will launch on Xbox One and PC July 11th. The collectable card game is a tie-in to the very British RPG series in which you could kick chickens and form a powerful emotional relationship with a dog. One stronger than anything you’ve had with any other humans. Let’s be fair, we all chose the option to bring him back to life at the end of Fable II, right? What sort of horrible person would take the money instead? Not me. Nope. Not at all.
Moving swiftly on, Fable Fortune allows you to play as one of six heroes with unique powers in a game of competitive or co-operative card battling. Fitting with the series obsession over moral choices, you can shift your character to be more good or evil throughout a duel in order to alter card effects and gain access to new powers.
Whether these unique mechanics and familiar Fable charm do enough to differentiate it in the crowded digital card game arena will be the true test. Hearthstone still currently reigns as king, but wannabe challengers are popping up all the time from games like Gwent, Elder Scrolls: Legends and Duelyst.
If you’re interested in checking out Fable Fortune at launch you can now pre-order the Founder’s Pack for $14.99 / £9.99 / 12,99€. That contains over $40 worth of goodies, including 20 card packs, the exclusive Flaming Fowl Trophy Card and the very rare Giant Egg card. The game will launch as free-to-play later in the year too, but this Founder’s Pack grants early access if you’re keen to get chicken chasing.
