Mistwalker has confirmed that their next game will be Terra Battle 2 with a glitzy debut trailer for the RPG.
The four-minute epic is an extremely flashy introduction to the sequel, that passes through moments of melancholy and determination before pitting four warriors against one giant foe. With no footage of the actual game on show, we can only go by the official blurb to get an idea of how the sequel plays, though it sounds very similar to the strategic focus of the original.
“The new world map lets players travel alongside their companions and allows for more strategic gameplay as you set up your formation before entering a battle. The countless encounters and farewells throughout the course of your heroes’ journey promise to be even more emotional and intense than ever before.”
Also confirmed is that Final Fantasy creator, Hironobu Sakaguchi, will be returning as the producer on the sequel. Famed composer, Nobuo Uematsu, will also return to score Terra Battle 2.
While the original game only released on mobile, Terra Battle 2 will come to iOS, Android and PC later this year as a free-to-play title.
Mistwalker also confirmed another game is in the works, with support from developers Arzest, titled Terra Wars. It’s another mobile and PC RPG that features characters from the original Terra Battle rendered using claymation.
