While watching the latest episode of the wonderfully bat’s-ass Preacher (2.11, “Back Doors”, available on Amazon in the UK and airing on AMC in the US) there was one moment the seemed oddly familiar. Was the scene where Jesse Custer goes in search of God (whom he thinks is in disguise as a gimp in a dog suit in a fetish club) supposed to be a homage to the opening credits sequence from ’6os cult TV legend The Prisoner? We certainly hope so. Even if not, the similarity is very amusing. You can compare and contrast in the little mash-up we’ve prepared below.
And if you’re not watching Preacher season two then we suggest you catch up fast on Amazon. The start of the season was amazing, then there was a bit of a mid-season lull, but now, as it enters the endgame, the show has really picked up again.
And if you’ve never seen The Prisoner… buy a box-set. Definite contender for best cult TV series ever. Definitely one of the most quotable TV series ever as well.
