Mike Myers’ career is defined by three roles. Some people know him as the heroically toothed, mop headed ’60s secret Agent Austin Powers (Fun fact: The Austin Powers wig is worn by Brad Pitt in Oceans’ Eleven at one point) while others know him as the voice of kindly curmudgeon ogre, Shrek. Here at MCM Towers he’ll always be beloved for his role(s) in So I Married An Axe Murderer (‘HEID! TROOSERS! NOO!’) of course but to trace it all back to the start? You have to go for Wayne. Legendary SNL character and co star of Wayne’s World and Wayne’s World 2. Including, this scene:
That is still EPIC and now, relevant all over again. Because word comes to us that he’s talking about a role in Bohemian Rhapsody, the long gestating Queen biopic. It’s already scored a frankly uncanny looking Rami Malek of Mr Robot as Freddy Mercury, as you can see:
There’s no word on who Myers would play yet but regardless, it’s nice to see his career come full circle. Party on, Mike.
Thanks to Vanity Fair for the initial story.
