Square Enix has gone and surprised everyone by releasing Final Fantasy IX on PS4 today. It’s available to download from the PSN Store right now!
Cited by many as one of the best Final Fantasy games of the classical era, it kicks off with the bandit Zidane and his attempt to kidnap the princess of Alexandria, Garnet. From there, the pair is joined by the likes of the shy black mage, Vivi, and bumbling knight, Steiner, on an epic journey to stop a threat that could destroy their world.
The PS4 version of Final Fantasy IX comes with high-definition movies and character models, trophy support, auto-save functionality and optional game boosters including a high-speed mode and no encounter mode.
If you’re ready to relive the game again it’ll set you back £16.99/€20.99. Purchases of the digital edition will also come with an original custom theme designed by Toshiyuki Itahana and eight key character avatars.
Even better news, PS Plus members can currently get the game for a discounted price of £13.59/€16.79 until 26 September.
