In this day and age, you can usually count on those involved with a film to explain as much as possible to help promote it. Paramount Pictures has opted for evasive marketing for their upcoming horror film A Quiet Place, providing no official synopsis. On top of that, the first teaser trailer has no dialogue whatsoever.
In the teaser, all that can be established is that a family living in the woods are suddenly terrorized by a supernatural force. The only way to survive is to remain silent. The teaser also makes sure to keep the monster firmly in the box. If you really want to appreciate the effective sound design, then watch it in headphones with the volume cranked up.
From Michael Bay’s production company Platinum Dunes, the film is directed by, co-written, co-produced and starring John Krasinski (mostly known for playing Jim Halpert in the US version of The Office). It also co-stars Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds (currently receiving rave reviews for her turn in Wonderstruck).
A Quiet Place opens in the US on 6 April 2018, and in the UK on 4 May 2018.
